Finding God in the Ordinary

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

— Colossians 3:23

Motherhood is full of ordinary moments—making meals, folding laundry, wiping tears, answering the same question for the tenth time. These moments can feel small or even invisible, especially when the work is never truly finished. But Scripture reminds us that no act done in love is ever wasted.

God is not only present in the big, spiritual moments. He is present in the everyday faithfulness—the quiet obedience of showing up again and again. When we care for our families, we are serving the Lord Himself. Even the tasks that feel repetitive or mundane are acts of worship when offered to Him.

It’s easy to believe that our work only matters if it’s seen or praised. But God sees what no one else does. He sees the patience it takes to stay calm, the strength it takes to keep going when you’re tired, and the love behind every small sacrifice. Nothing done for Him goes unnoticed.

Today, take a moment to invite God into the ordinary. Ask Him to help you see your daily responsibilities through His eyes. You don’t need a perfect home or a perfect schedule to honor Him—just a willing heart.

Prayer:

Lord, help me remember that You are with me in every moment of my day. Teach me to see my daily tasks as opportunities to serve You with love and faithfulness. When I feel unseen or overwhelmed, remind me that You see me and that my work matters to You. Amen.
